What Is a Currency Converter Used For?
A currency converter helps you find the value of an amount of money in a foreign currency. It is useful for international purchases, travel, trade, money transfers, studying abroad and managing a budget in multiple currencies.
With the Chrislink currency converter, you can compare currencies and check available reference rates for currencies around the world. The calculation updates automatically when you change the amount or select another currency.
How Do You Calculate a Currency Conversion?
To convert an amount, multiply the starting amount by the exchange rate between the two currencies.
Converted amount = original amount × exchange rate
For example, if the reference rate is 1 EUR = 1.10 USD, then 100 euros equals 110 US dollars. This example is illustrative: the rate actually used by the converter depends on the latest available data.
Convert Euros to CFA Francs (XAF)
The Central African CFA franc, identified by the code XAF, is used in Chad, Cameroon, Gabon, the Central African Republic, the Republic of the Congo and Equatorial Guinea.
The euro and the Central African CFA franc are linked by an official fixed exchange rate: 1 EUR = 655.957 XAF. This fixed rate allows you to calculate the value of an amount in euros or CFA francs directly. Any fees charged for a financial transaction are separate from this parity.
Difference Between XAF and XOF
XAF refers to the Central African CFA franc, while XOF refers to the West African CFA franc. These currencies have the same fixed parity with the euro, but belong to different monetary zones. Select the correct currency code before converting.
What Factors Affect Exchange Rates?
For floating currencies, exchange rates can change due to supply and demand in the foreign exchange market, central bank decisions, inflation, interest rates, economic conditions and international events. Published rates therefore differ and may not be updated at the same time.
Reference rates allow currencies to be compared, but do not guarantee the amount a person will receive in a payment or transfer. Financial institutions may add fees and an exchange margin.
How Do You Read the Exchange Rate Table?
The table at the bottom of this page shows the indicative value of one unit of a reference currency — euro, US dollar, Chinese yuan or XAF CFA franc — in each available currency. Search by currency code or name to find its rate quickly.
The date shown corresponds to the data provided by the exchange-rate service. Reference rates are generally published daily and are not necessarily real-time quotes.
